Artist suspends real clouds in the middle of the room

Wow.

cmonstah:

good:

This is not a fluffy mass of cotton strung up in a room. It’s an actual, man-made cloud.

That’s not photoshop; that’s an actual cloud hovering inside an actual room. Artist Berndnaut Smilde merges art and science to create small man-made clouds that exist — albeit for just a moment — indoors.

So incredilbly talented and amazing to see 5 people use one guitar to make the sounds of 5 different instruments.

How very TED-like. I support this.

Wow, I wonder where this collection will go? Huge restitution issues lie within.

Look inside Adolf Hitler’s secret art collection unearthed in a Czech convent
During the Second World War Hitler moved some of his extensive art collection, rumoured to have contained more than 5,000 pieces, out of Germany to avoid damage from Allied bomb attacks.

Last week, 16 pieces resurfaced in a Czech convent and now they are being seen for the first time since Hitler bought them in the mid 1940s. (Photos: Petr Josek/Reuters)

The Art Newspaper reports that nonprofit organization Word Above the Street has signed up a bevy of artists for a 12-week project to transform 300 of New York’s water towers into public artworks. Ed Ruscha, Lawrence Weiner, Marilyn Minter, E.V. Day, Tony Conrad, Andy Goldsworthy and Tony Oursler, as well as musicians Jay-Z and Thom Yorke are just some of the artists on board with the aptly named Water Tank Project, an effort to increase public awareness of the need to conserve water.
There’s a call for artists too. Seems like a great opportunity for Artists on Tumblr to make their impact on the city’s architecture.

Though the full roster of artists is quite impressive, the project is not only open to established artists. The website has posted an open call to “all artists regardless of age, experience, sex, race, color, or national origin” and plans a school competition so some young artists will get the chance to express themselves across New York City’s skyline.
